GUIDE TO EXPLAINING THE SCIENCE

What is the term exoskeleton? What is the opposite?
What are invertebrates? Give examples.
What are vertebrates? Give examples.

The science involves learning about:
the internal structures, of a living organisms
how the tissues and organs are interrelated
the complexity of organisms.

To help students learn I need to make sure I choose a level of information that does not overwhelm them. Therefore each session may be very different, depending on the nature of the student experience. Needless to say, this activity could be extended to quite a sophisticated level of learning.

The classification of a shrimp includes the order Decapoda and Phylum Arthropods. Again it is a choice how much detail is best when introducing classification systems.

Getting students to make a dichotomous key to classify a shrimp for example would be an extension.
